MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – Five persons succumbed to COVID-19 complications in La Paz town in Tarlac, the provincial government disclosed on Friday.

In its latest bulletin, the Tarlac provincial government said the latest COVID-19 fatalities include a 63-year-old man from Barangay Balanoy, a 69-year-old man from Barangay Comillas; a 49-year-old male resident of Barangay Macalong; a 63-year-old man from Barangay San Isidro and a 75-year-old male resident of Barangay San Roque.

As of Friday, 21 persons in the town had died from COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic last year.

Two new cases were also reported in La Paz on Friday, bringing the total number of cases in the municipality to 202, with 29 active infections.

The provincial government said seven patients have recovered from the disease in La Paz, bringing to 152 the total number of recoveries.

Meanwhile, La Paz Mayor Venustiano Jordan said in a social media post that 770 residents under the A1, A2 and A3 priority groups have been fully vaccinated, while 1,072 under the same categories have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as of June 16.

On June 18, Tarlac registered 19 new cases and 21 recoveries. It has a total of 7,842 cases, of which 1,058 are still active, and 6,419 recoveries.

The provincial death toll stands at 365.
