OLONGAPO CITY — Only about two percent of the population of this city had been fully inoculated against COVID-19 due to the limited supply of vaccines, an official said.
In his weekly report on Friday, June 18, Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said although some 14,000 residents had already received jabs against COVID-19, a little over 4,000 of them had received the second dose.
The city is currently vaccinating residents on the A1-A3 priority list, which includes health workers, senior citizens, and those with comorbidities
They were given the Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines supplied by the national government.
Paulino said the target to achieve herd immunity is to vaccinate at least 140,000 of its over 200,000 population.
He said the actual vaccine rollout in the city was “quick” but had to be stopped when they had run out of supply from the national government. INQ
