LEGAZPI CITY — Mayor Noel Rosal has ordered an investigation of security breaches in government-run COVID-19 isolation units in the city after a patient was reportedly raped by another patient on June 10.

A police report said the 45-year-old suspect and a 25-year-old woman had a drinking spree at the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation Compound, the city’s quarantine.

“When the victim went to the [toilet], the respondent allegedly followed her and raped her,” lawyer Brian Baleda, city prosecutor, said on Wednesday.

Baleda said the complaint had been elevated to the regional trial court. —MICHAEL B. JAUCIAN
