KIDAPAWAN CITY—Seven police personnel of Mlang town in Cotabato province have been isolated after testing positive for SARS-CoV2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
Lt. Colonel Realan Mamon, Mlang police chief, said the infections were discovered after all the 50 municipal police officers were subjected to antigen tests when one personnel showed COVID-19 symptoms.
Of the 50, eight tested positive, but only seven have confirmed infections based on their reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test.
Mamon said the police officers are in good shape while in isolation, expressing hope they could return to their duties soon.
Members of the local health personnel are now tracing the people who have come in close contact with the law enforcers.
With the recent infections among their ranks, Mamon ordered the disinfection of the police station and outposts in the town.
Mamon assured the public that they continue to have a good handle of the town’s peace and order situation despite the infections of the seven officers.
