MANILA, Philippines — Volcanic earthquakes continued to rock Taal Volcano this week, as it remained under increased unrest, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Between Monday and Tuesday, the Taal Volcano Network recorded 221 volcanic quakes, including 29 low-frequency quakes and 192 volcanic tremor events.
Taal also spewed plumes that rose 1,500 meters before drifting southwest. Phivolcs said this was due to the rise of hot volcanic fluids in the main crater lake.
Entry to Taal Volcano Island and its permanent danger zone is still barred.
