BACOLOD CITY — Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has signed an executive order imposing stringent measures to curb the surge in COVID-19 cases in the province starting Tuesday, June 15.
The order sets stricter border controls with Negros Oriental from June 15 to 30. All non-essential travel of persons originating from Negros Oriental will not be allowed into Negros Occidental during that period.
Regulated entry of Mabinay residents to Kabankalan City, Basay residents to Hinoba-an, and Canlaon City and Vallehermoso residents to San Carlos City will be allowed.
Mass gatherings will be allowed only up to 30 percent of the seating or venue capacity in economic and commercial establishments.
All beaches, resorts, waterparks, and other similar recreational venues in Negros Occidental will be closed from June 23 to 25 in line with the Feast of San Juan to avoid COVID-19 “super spreader” activities.
All local chief executives of Negros Occidental are calling on the Philippine National Police to heighten the security and patrol of provincial borders, Lacson said.
Those who fail to comply with the executive order will face appropriate administrative or criminal sanctions.
Negros Occidental has 2,379 active COVID-19 cases as of Monday, June 14, according to the Department of Health.
