Olongapo City runs out of COVID-19 beds
OLONGAPO CITY—The city has started running out of beds dedicated to COVID-19 patients as it continues to record a high infection rate, an official said.
Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said various hospitals and health facilities in the city have reached their full capacities due to the climbing number of infections.
He cited, for instance, the government-run James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital (JLGMH), which has about 80 beds for COVID-19 patients.
Paulino said JLGMH is now on an “overcapacity” status, and at least 30 people would be on the waiting list at any given time.
He said the COVID-19 facility at the Gordon College was also almost full, prompting them to tap other facilities, such as the Columban College.
On Monday, June 14, 13 new COVID-19 cases were logged in the city, bringing to 2,299 the total number of infections recorded here since the pandemic was declared last year.
