MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga—The capital town of Baler in Aurora province has 35 new COVID-19 patients, bringing its total active cases to 128, the provincial emergency operations center disclosed on Tuesday, June 14.

Of the total active cases, 120 were in quarantine facilities, and eight were in a hospital.

Baler has the highest number of active cases among Aurora’s eight towns, followed by Maria Aurora with 76 and Dinalungan with 67.

Baler also has the highest COVID-19 cases in the province at 545, followed by Maria Aurora with 325 and Casiguran with 205.

As of June 14, at least 20 people had died of the viral disease in Baler since the start of the global pandemic last year.

Fourteen residents have recovered from COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the town’s total number of recoveries to 397.

A third-class municipality, Baler has a population of around 44,000. Barangay Pingit has 35 active cases, Suklayin has 20, and Buhangin, 17.

As of June 14, Aurora has 382 active cases. It registered 49 new cases and 96 recoveries on Monday. A total of 1,322 residents have recovered from the viral disease.
