LAOAG CITY––A 99-year-old woman from Vintar town in Ilocos Norte received May 31 her first dose of an anti-COVID-19 vaccine, which made her the oldest resident of the province to be inoculated, officials said Monday, June 14.
The provincial government said Hilaria Flores Dalere received the UK-made AstraZeneca vaccine.
As of June 13, at least 13,745 senior citizens had been vaccinated in Ilocos Norte.
Of this number, 683 have been fully vaccinated, according to Dr. Rheuel Bobis, DOH COVID-19 focal person in the Ilocos Region.
Since May, the provincial government had been eyeing to inoculate at least 71,380 senior citizens aged 60 and above, or those in the A2 priority group.
The provincial government said it would establish “more vaccination sites to cater to [the vaccination] of more Ilokano as the province was expected to receive more COVID-19 vaccine doses.”
Bobis said at least 77,544 senior citizens in the region had received their COVID-19 vaccines, with 12,145 of them fully vaccinated.
The region had administered 249,010 doses of COVID-19 vaccines for the health workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities, said Bobis. INQ
