Alcano ousted in China billiards

RONATO  “Volcano” Alcano lost to Hsu Kai Lun of Chinese-Taipei, 2-11, in the semifinals yesterday  to bow out of the China Open event for Men and Women at the Shanghai Pudong Yuanshen Stadium in Shanghai, China.

Hsu will face Chris Melling of Great Britain for the men’s finals. Melling nipped Niels Feijen of the Netherlands in the other semifinal pairing.

The Calamba hotshot Alcano beat Murni Ahmad Taufiq of Brunei, 11-10, in the Last 32; Ralf Souquet of Germany, 11-7, in the last 16; and Yukio Akakariyama of  Japan, 11-9, in the quarterfinals to advance to the semis. In women’s play, Xiao Fang fu and Siming Chen won their respective final four assignments to make it an all-China finale.   /Correspondent Jonas  Panerio
