57 new COVID-19 deaths bring PH’s total to 22,845

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported Monday that 57 more COVID-19 patients died of the severe respiratory disease, bringing the country’s death toll to 22,845.

This is the only day after five consecutive days that the COVID-19 daily reported deaths did not exceed 100.

The total number of deaths represents 1.73% of the 1.33 million total confirmed cases in the country, the DOH said in its daily case bulletin.

Of the confirmed cases, 59,096 are active cases,  most, or 95.7% of which only have mild or have no symptoms.

The DOH also reported 1,240,112 recoveries, including an additional 7,145 new patients who have recovered from the disease.

DOH said it removed 12 duplicates from the total case count, including 15 recoveries.

Moreover, 10 cases that it previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
