MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized P38 million worth of smuggled cigarettes from China at Manila International Container Port (MICP) over the weekend.

The BOC said the shipment containing 1,090 master cases of cigarettes with brands such as Marvel, Mighty, and Astro, was consigned to Green Nature Alliance Ventures.

Alvin Enciso, chief of the MICP’s Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service, said they received derogatory information about the shipment prompting the bureau agents to subject it to a physical examination.
