PDEA seizes P795-M worth of shabu in Imus bust, Chinese arrested
MANILA, Philippines — Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested a Chinese suspect in a drug bust on Aguinaldo Highway in Imus, Cavite on Sunday, seizing from him 117 kilograms of crystal meth, commonly known locally as shabu, with an estimated worth of P795 million.
PDEA identified the suspect as 38-year-old Man Kuok Wong, also known as Jose Baluyot Wong.
The drug bust took place at around 4:00 p.m.
Also seized from Wong were a Toyota Corolla sedan, a Mazda CX-5 sport utility vehicle, and a Nissan GTR sports car.
Wong, who is now under PDEA custody, is facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Article continues after this advertisementIn an earlier operation, at around 3:00 p.m., PDEA agents also seized P257 million worth of crystal from another Chinese suspect in Parañaque City.
Article continues after this advertisement“Apparently, based on the packaging there are similarities [in the seized items],” PDEA spokesperson Derrick Carreon told reporters in a message thread.
