PNP junks case ‍vs vax for sale tipster

MANILA, Philippines — Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the Philippine National Police, has ordered the withdrawal of the charges filed against the whistleblower of the vaccination slot for sale racket, admitting lapses in its investigation.

Eleazar instructed on Saturday the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group to withdraw the complaint against Nina Ellaine Dizon Cabrera before the Mandaluyong City prosecutor’s office “in the soonest possible time.”

“After a thorough review of the cases that were filed against those involved in the vaccine/vaccine slot for sale, our legal team came up with the conclusion that Ms Nina Ellaine Dizon Cabrera should not have been included in the criminal complaint based on the appreciation of the pieces of evidence on hand,” he said in a statement.

The charges against the two other respondents, Cyle Cedric Soriano and Melvin Gutierrez, however, will remain.

Cabrera, the chief executive officer of local makeup brand Colourette Cosmetics, said she was relieved the truth had come out.

“My name was needlessly dragged into a baseless accusation, when I am the one who exposed the scheme,” she added.
