PH’s COVID-19 cases surpass 60,000-mark with 8,000 new infections

MANILA, Philippines — Over 8,000 new COVID-19 cases and over 8,900 new recoveries were recorded Saturday, pushing the country’s active number of cases to surpass the 60,000-mark.

According to data from the Department of Health, 8,027 new cases were recorded.

There are now 1,308,352 total confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded in the Philippines of which 4.6 percent or 60,341 remain active.

Meanwhile, some 8,940 individuals have recovered from the disease, raising the number of patients who have survived the disease to 1,225,359.

However, 145 more patients have succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 22,652.

The DOH noted that all laboratories were able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
