CITY OF MALOLOS — Midwives and pharmacists in Bulacan province were authorized to perform vaccinations as the province strengthens its inoculation efforts against COVID-19 with the arrival this coming week of 70,000 more vaccine doses intended for the A4 and A5 priority vaccinees.
Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando announced on Saturday, in an interview after the 123rd Independence Day rites at the Barasoain Church in this city, that he was assured by vaccination chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez on Friday night of the supply of Sputnik V, Pfizer, Moderna and SinoVac vaccines for the province as vaccinees will now reach the A4 category, the front liners in essential works including media and uniformed personnel, and those in A5 category for the mass vaccination.
Fernando said the province is strengthening now its vaccination capabilities through more vaccinators and vaccine centers.
He said all the health centers in each of the 569 villages in the province will be used as vaccination centers to help speed up the program.
At the Bulacan Provincial Vaccination Center in The Pavilion of the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center, Fernando said the present six cold storage facilities can accommodate the 70,000 doses to be delivered next by the Department of Health.
He said Bulacan, with more than 3.2 million residents, needs to inoculate about 2 million to reach the 70 percent herd immunity.
Bulacan now has 37,325 COVID-19 cases, 804 deaths and 34, 612 recoveries since the pandemic hit in March 2020.
