OCTA flags high hospital utilization rate in 5 provinces

MANILA, Philippines — The OCTA Research group has flagged the high healthcare utilization rates (HCUR) in the provinces of Negros Oriental, Iloilo, Agusan del Norte, Misamis Oriental and Cagayan.

In its monitoring report issued Saturday, the group said these provinces have an HCUR at 70 percent or higher.

The HCUR of Negros Oriental was at 70 percent, Iloilo at 72 percent, Agusan del Norte at 75 percent, Misamis Oriental at 78 percent and Cagayan at 84 percent.

The group also flagged the provinces of Negros Oriental, Leyte and Agusan del Norte for its “significant increases in new cases.”

OCTA also named several local government units of concern like Cagayan de Oro City, Iloilo City, Butuan, Dumaguete, Tuguegarao, Tacloban and Cotabato City.

“These have high hospital bed utilization rates greater than 70 percent,” the group said.

Meanwhile, the average number of new COVID-19 cases in the entire Philippines from June 5 to 11 decreased by 3 percent.
