3 rebels surrender in Northern Samar

TACLOBAN CITY –– Three alleged members of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered Thursday, June 10, to the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Northern Samar province.

The surrenderers were identified only by their nom de guerre: Ka Jesie, 36, said to be a medical officer; Ka Marlon, 50, and Ka Junior, 53, chair and organizer of the Batayang Organisasyong Pangpartido of the sub-regional committee Emporium Front Committee of the front guerilla unit in the province.

Ka Marlon and Ka Junior turned over two .45 caliber pistols, two magazines, and 13 rounds of ammunition, said Colonel Arnel Apud, police provincial director.

The surrender of the three rebels was facilitated by the 1st Northern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company.

Apud said the three expressed interest in cooperating with the police when authorities file charges against the rebels for their atrocities.
