LEGAZPI CITY –– The president of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) in San Miguel town of Catanduanes, who has a pending arrest warrant for illegal cockfighting, was nabbed Thursday morning, June 10, police said Friday.
Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, spokesperson of the Bicol police, said in a report that Jose Tianela, 52, chief of Barangay Buhi, who sits in the municipal council representing the ABC, was arrested around 8:30 a.m.
The Catanduanes police said Tianela was allegedly caught on camera while manning a “tupada” or illegal cockfighting in his village on August 30, 2020 around 9 a.m.
He was released after posting bail. INQ
