CITY OF CALAPAN – Four villages in San Jose town in Occidental Mindoro province have been placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) by the Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan Regional Inter-Agency Task Force on Infectious Disease (RIATF).
The Incident Command System (ICS) recommended the extension of lockdown or ECQ in Barangay (village) San Roque for two more weeks from its initial imposition on June 22 and to place on similar lockdown Barangays Bagong Sikat, Labangan Poblacion and Bubog starting June 10 until June 23.
Enid Asuncion, municipal health officer and ICS commander, said 19 active cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) wer reported in San Roque, 11 in Labangan Poblacion, six in Bubog and five in Bagong Sikat
A village that has five COVID-19 positive cases will be in a critical zone of lockdown, she explained.
Under modified ECQ or MECQ are Barangays San Agustin, San Isidro, La Curva, Magbay, Mabini, Pag-asa, Poblacion 2, 3, 4 and 8 while under general community quarantine (GCQ) are Barangays Central, Camburay, Bayotbot, Mangarin, Poblacion 1, 5, 6 and 7
“Stricter observance of the protocols should be implemented in the villages on lockdown so efforts at it will not be wasted. This is not the time for blaming,” said Asuncion.
As of June 8, San Jose has logged 97 COVID-19 cases, the highest in the province, followed by Mamburao with 35 and Sablayan with 34.
Occidental Mindoro has logged a total of 1,181 COVID-19 cases since March 2020, of which 196 are active, 955 are recoveries and 30 are deaths.
