BACOLOD CITY The Philippine College of Physicians (PCP)-Negros Occidental Chapter has appealed to Bacolod and Negros Occidental residents to strictly observe health protocols to slow down the spread of COVID-19.

“We have been facing the COVID-19 battle for more than a year and still our cases continue to surge in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental. With the exponential rise of our daily census, our hospitals and the whole health care system are currently overwhelmed,” the PCP said in a statement.

“We need you to cooperate and follow the rules implemented to stop the spread of the deadly virus. The war is still far from over,” the PCP said.

The doctors urged the public to avoid social gatherings with other households even if held outdoors, especially over food and drinks.

They also stressed the need for early voluntary isolation if one feels sick even before getting tested, and to limit movement to essential errands and activities only.

“We witness the suffering of COVID-19 patients every day. We see how patients and their families are crushed by the socio-economic impact of the pandemic. Thus, we urge the general public to please follow the safety protocols,” the PCP said.

Containing the virus will help the economy recover faster, the group said.

“This is the best time that we should fight this battle against  COVID-19 as citizens, for the future and safety of our own families,” the PCP said.*
