MANILA, Philippines — Active COVID-19 cases in the country are now at 56,452 as the Department of Health (DOH) reports additional 4,777 cases, with 10 non-reporting laboratories.
Data from the DOH on Tuesday showed that active cases compose 4.4 percent of all the 1,280,773 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.
Of the running total, 1,202,257 are recoveries, which include 7,122 additional patients who have recovered. Recoveries contribute 93.9 percent of the tally.
However, there are 95 more patients who have died, raising the death toll to 22,064, or 1.72 percent of all the cases.
Regarding the positivity rate, the DOH said 14.3 percent of the 29,125 people who were tested were found positive for coronavirus.
The DOH said all laboratories were operational on Sunday but 10 laboratories were not able to submit their data.
Based on data in the last 14 days, the 10 non-reporting labs contribute, on average, 2.7 percent of samples tested and 2.9 percent of COVID-19 positive individuals.
Meanwhile, eight duplicates, including six recoveries, were removed from the total case count, according to DOH.
The health department also said 40 cases that were initially tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
