4.8-magnitude quake hits Antique town; sways nearby areas
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck the town of Valderrama in Antique province on Monday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Based on its bulletin, Phivolcs said the epicenter of the tectonic quake was located five kilometers southwest of Valderrama at a depth of just 10 kilometers below the ground. The temblor, which hit the municipality at 7:49 p.m., was at Intensity IV, according to Phivolcs.
The earthquake was also felt in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique, at Intensity III, as well as in Culasi, Antique, at Intensity II, it added.
Phivolcs said no damage and no aftershocks are expected from the quake for now.
