Active COVID-19 infections in PH decrease with 6,969 recoveries

MANILA, Philippines — The country’s active COVID-19 cases decreased slightly from Sunday’s 59,337 to 58,854 on Monday, the latest numbers from the Department of Health (DOH) indicated.

DOH’s COVID-19 bulletin for Monday, June 7 showed that this is due to higher new recoveries at 6,969, compared to the new infections which were at 6,539.

As of now, 1,195,181 patients have recovered from COVID-19, while the total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country are now at 1,276,004.

Most of the patients or 93.4 percent of active cases have still exhibited mild symptoms only, while 2.4 percent were asymptomatic.  At least 1.7 percent of the patients currently have severe symptoms while 1.3 percent are in critical condition.

Of the 45,047 tests conducted from June 5, DOH said that 13.3 percent tested positive.

In terms of COVID-19 bed capacity in the National Capital Region, 49 percent of intensive care unit beds have been utilized while 39 percent of isolation beds are occupied.

DOH said that all laboratories were operational on May 29, but seven labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
