MANILA, Philippines — Students from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) will be receiving P3,000 monthly allowance from the Manila government for the months of April, May, and June, the city government said Monday.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan have signed the release of the budget worth P20,975,000 for PLM students on Monday, June 7, according to the Manila Public Information Office Facebook post.

Last year, Moreno signed a city ordinance No. 8568 implementing the distribution of P1,000 monthly monetary allowance for both PLM and Universidad De Manila (UDM) students who are in “good standing.”

The Manila LGU mentioned that by “good standing,” it means the student must not be under probation or incur any failing mark.

Under the ordinance, the students in good standing must be a resident and a registered voter of Manila. If not, the parent or guardian should be a registered voter in the city in order to claim the allowance of the student.

The funding of the monthly allowance is taken out of the city’s yearly budget. Sofia Vertucio, INQUIRER.net trainee
