Valentine’s Day for dogs
EVEN dogs get to celebrate the day of hearts, at least in Lapu-Lapu City.
City officials will sponsor a Dog Valentine Festival at the Liberty Shrine in barangay Mactan on Feb. 26 to encourage pet lovers to help prevent rabies.
City Veterinarian Dr. Janice Togonon said a dog parade will be followed by a free pet clinic. Pet owners are encouraged to register their pets.
Togonon said services to be offered include rabies vaccination, deworming and vitamins supplementation, neutering and free treatment for dogs. Pet “blessings” will be done at 9 a.m. followed by a presentation of dogs, games and lectures.
“Through this campaign we can lower the cases of rabies in the city. Last year we had seven positive cases of rabies.”
