MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday launched a manhunt for the suspects involved in the killing of a media executive in General Santos City.
The victim was identified as Yentez Quintoy, 34, executive director and chief of staff of the Brigada Group of Companies.
She was shot at close range by motorcycle-riding suspects while she was driving home last Friday, June 4, along NLSA Road in Pook Masunurin, Barangay San Isidro, General Santos City.
“Mariin po nating kinokondena ang insidenteng ito (We strongly condemn this incident). I have directed the local police to thoroughly investigate this killing and launch manhunt operations against the perpetrators of this crime,” PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said in a statement on Sunday.
“Titingnan po natin kung job-related ang motibo sa pagpatay sa biktima pero hindi po natin isasantabi ang iba pang posibleng anggulo sa krimen na ito,” he added.
(We will see if the motive for the murder of the victim is job-related but we will not rule out other possible angles in this crime.)
Eleazar said that the local police will also closely coordinate with Quintoy’s family and co-workers as part of the probe.
He then urged witnesses to Quintoy’s killing to come forward and give information to authorities that would help in the speedy resolution of the case.
The Brigada Group has already offered a P1 million reward to anyone who could provide solid information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects.
The said group of companies is behind the Brigada Mass Media Corp., which operates three newspapers, along with a television station and radio stations in Mindanao.
