OLONGAPO CITY — Eight more cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection were registered among the personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Central Luzon, local health data showed on Friday, June 4.

According to the health service of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), these latest infections raised to 199 active COVID-19 cases among police personnel in the region.

Among the recent surges was the infection of 22 PNP personnel in this city.

To date, the PRO3 logged 1,477 COVID-19 cases since March last year. At least 1,261 of these had already recovered from the disease.

The death toll among PNP personnel in the region remains at five.

Meanwhile, Olongapo Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said a 75-year-old woman became the latest elderly patient to die of COVID-19 in this city on Friday.

Paulino said the fatality was the city’s 105th death related to COVID-19. Most of these deaths were of elderly patients aged 60 and above.

Paulino said 33 new COVID-19 cases aged 6 to 93 were also recorded in the city on the same day, raising to 308 the number of active infections.

Since last year, the city has already logged 2,103 cases but 1,690 of these had already recovered from COVID-19.
