MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have identified another person of interest in the alleged sale of COVID-19 vaccination slots in Mandaluyong City.
Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos said in a text message to INQUIRER.net on Friday that “further investigation resulted in the identification of another person of interest allegedly involved.”
“The person is not an employee of the city government, nor a member of the vaccination team. The details will be released after full completion of investigation and filing of a case,” she added.
Meanwhile, Col. Gauvin Mel Unos, Mandaluyong City police chief, said in a separate text message that “investigation is still determining the person’s extent of participation which will be divulged as soon as the case is filed.”
The first suspect, Cyle Cedric Bonifacio, who was allegedly involved in the selling of vaccination slots in the city earlier surrendered to authorities. However, he denied any involvement in the alleged racket.
Bonifacio was later released from police custody but the Philippine National Police has assured that the suspect would be facing charges.
