Velasco elected as legislativecaretaker of 2nd District of Antipolo City

MANILA, Philippines – Speaker Lord Allan Velasco was elected Wednesday as the legislative caretaker of the second district of Antipolo City following the death of Rep. Resurreccion Acop.

According to Deputy Majority Leader Xavier Jesus Romualdo, Velasco’s election as the legislative caretaker of the congressional district was upon the wishes of the family and constituents of the deceased lawmaker.

Acop recently passed away after suffering from COVID-19 complications.

The late solon’s husband, former Rep. Romeo Acop, said he and his wife both contracted COVID-19 last April 8.
His wife, according to him, had to be intubated for 21 days.

Meanwhile, Marikina 1st District Rep. Bayani Fernando was likewise elected as chairperson of the House committee on human rights.

Fernando replaced Quezon City 4th District Rep. Jesus “Bong” Suntay.
