Fire hits store in Starmall in Mandaluyong

MANILA, Philippines — A fire struck a tiangge (flea market) stall at the Starmall shopping mall in Mandaluyong City on Wednesday. The fire only lasted for around 15 minutes, authorities said.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire, which occurred at the parking area of the mall, reached the first alarm at 6:35 a.m.

The mall’s parking lot was converted into a spot for tiangge stalls, the BFP added.

It was placed under control at 6:45 a.m. and was extinguished at 6:50 a.m. It was initially reported that the fire was extinguished a minute later.

There are no reported injuries and casualties and the damage was placed at P50,000.
