MANILA, Philippines — A Makati court on Tuesday dismissed the second cyberlibel case filed by businessman Wilfredo Keng against Rappler CEO Maria Ressa for tweeting the same article that led to her first cyberlibel conviction by a Manila court in 2020.
In an order dated June 1, Judge Andres Soriano of Branch 148 said the dismissal followed Keng’s manifestation on May 25 that the case be dismissed with prejudice, meaning, it could not be filed again.
Because Keng had voluntarily withdrawn his case, the prosecutors could no longer prove Ressa’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt, Soriano added.
