Cotabato town vice mayor tests positive for coronavirus

KIDAPAWAN CITY—Another local official in Cotabato province announced on Monday, May 31, that he contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“Despite my extra efforts in observing maximum health protocols, I have tested positive for COVID-19,” Makilala town Vice Mayor Ryan Tabanay informed his constituents in a statement.

Tabanay, a lawyer, said he is now in isolation. He took the antigen test after he had fever on Saturday, May 29; and the test yielded positive results. So, he took the confirmatory swab test, which results came out on Monday, confirming him positive for coronavirus.

On May 17, Tabanay assumed as acting mayor of Makilala after Mayor Armando Quibod tested positive for the virus. Quibod and two other local officials who tested positive for COVID-19 are expected to report for work anytime this week.
