MANILA, Philippines — A huge part of Luzon would still have hot and humid daytimes despite a higher frequency of isolated rains and even with Tropical Storm Dante inside the Philippine area of responsibility.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said during its Monday afternoon weather update that Luzon would not yet feel the effects of Dante, which is still above waters east of Surigao del Norte.
As a result, temperatures would remain high for Tuesday: Tuguegarao with 27 to 39 degrees Celsius, Metro Manila with 26 to 35 degrees, Laoag and Puerto Princesa with 26 to 34 degrees, Tagaytay with 23 to 32 degrees, and Legazpi with 26 to 33 degrees.
“Sa Luzon naman, patuloy ang mainit at maalinsangang panahon dahil hindi tayo, sa ngayon, apektado ng bagyong si Dante. Dito sa Metro Manila posibleng pumalo ng around 35 degrees Celsius ‘yong maximum daytime temperature,” senior weather specialist Chris Perez said.
(For Luzon, we can expect continuous warm and humid weather because we are not, as of now, affected by Tropical Storm Dante. For Metro Manila, maximum daytime temperatures may reach around 35 degrees Celsius.)
“Now ‘yong possible computed heat index value po, ay tinataya nating magre-range from 39 to 41 degrees Celsius, so generally talagang mainit, maalinsangan, as much as possible kung wala po tayong mahalagang gagawin sa labas ng bahay, stay indoors in well-ventilated rooms,” he added.
(Now, for the possible computed heat index value, we are expecting it to range between 39 to 41 degrees Celsius, so it would generally be warm, humid, which means as much as possible, people are advised to stay indoors in a well-ventilated room if they have nothing important to do outside.)
For Visayas and Mindanao, several areas, especially those on the eastern side, are expected to see cloudy skies and rains due to Dante.
Temperatures for Tacloban and Cebu would just be around 26 to 31 degrees Celsius, 24 to 31 degrees for Cagayan de Oro, 25 to 31 degrees for Davao, while western cities of Iloilo and Zamboanga would have 26 to 33 degrees and 25 to 32 degrees, respectively.
No gale warning has been raised as of now, but sea conditions for the eastern waters of Visayas and Mindanao would be moderate to rough, with Dante expected to move over these areas.
Luzon’s northern and eastern coasts would have a moderate sea condition, while the rest of the country’s seaboards would be slight to moderate.
