San Juan to use cinemas in Greenhills as vaccination hubs

The San Juan City Hall designates the Cinemas 1 and 2 of the Theatre Mall in Greenhills as additional vaccination centers that can cater to up to 1,500 vaccinees a day.

MANILA, Philippines—The San Juan City government will open Theater Mall cinemas at Greenhills Mall as COVID-19 vaccination hubs on Tuesday, June 1.

In partnership with the Greenhills Mall and the Music Museum Group, the city government has designated the Cinemas 1 and 2 of the Theatre Mall in Greenhills as additional vaccination centers that can cater to up to 1,500 vaccinees a day.

This is in addition to the vaccination center in FilOil Flying V Centre that can accommodate 2,000 vaccine beneficiaries per day.

In a statement on Monday, the LGU said the upcoming opening of the additional vaccination sites is in preparation for the vaccination of workers under the A4 category.

But while vaccination for A4 has not started yet, the city government said it would vaccinate new A1, A2 and A3 registrants first at Greenhills.

“Once the IATF announces that we can start already with A4, we will vaccinate immediately our Muslim brothers and sisters who work in and do business in Greenhills along with our workforce, the LGU said.

According to San Juan LGU, the Filoil Flying V Centre will be open to A4 residents of the city, while the vaccination centers in Cinemas 1 and 2 of the Theatre Mall will cater to the A4 non-residents but are working in San Juan. Vaccination will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Filoil Flying V Centre will also designate special lanes for the healthcare workers, senior citizens and persons with comorbidity.

The San Juan LGU has so far vaccinated 27,216 individuals from the A1, A2 and A3 categories, or a total 32 percent of the target population. The LGU said it has already exhausted the list of registrants in the registration system for the said priority groups.
