Olongapo’s COVID-19 death toll now at 98

OLONGAPO CITY –– Two residents here in their 70s died from COVID-19 complications, bringing to 98 the city’s death toll related to the disease as of Sunday.

In an advisory, Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the latest fatalities were a 72-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman.

For 11 consecutive days, at least one resident here succumbed to the viral disease that has infected 1,987 people in the city since last year.

Citing local health data, Paulino said 20 new COVID-19 cases were added to the city’s tally that day, bringing to 271 the active infections.

At least 1,618 patients had recovered from the disease, Paulino said.
