MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila mayors will still recommend that the region stays under general community quarantine (GCQ) in June, with some more businesses allowed to reopen, Metro Manila Council (MMC) chairman and Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said Monday.
“Yes, ang recommendation pa rin po ng ating MMC ay GCQ pa rin po pero meron pong pagbubukas ng konti na mga negosyo,” Olivarez said in an interview over Teleradyo.
(Yes, the MMC recommends staying under GCQ, but some businesses will reopen.)
“Ito po yung mga MICE, ito yung mga meeting, incentives conference at saka mga exhibits pero limited capacity po yan, hindi po 100 percent,” he added.
(This is the MICE industry or the meetings, incentives, conferencing, exhibitions, but in a limited capacity, not 100 percent.)
Metro Manila is currently under GCQ with heightened restrictions that don’t allow establishments such as meetings, conferences, and exhibitions to reopen.
Meanwhile, Olivarez reiterated that the 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew in Metro Manila would remain in effect.
New quarantine classifications are expected to be announced this Monday.
