MANILA, Philippines — Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are expected on Saturday, the state weather bureau said.
In its morning weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with small possible rain showers will prevail in Luzon.
Hot and humid weather, especially at noon and in the early afternoon, is expected in Northern and Central Luzon as chances of rainfall remain “suppressed,” according to Pagasa weather specialist Loriedin dela Cruz.
In Southern Luzon and the Visayas, chances of isolated thunderstorms can be expected at “anytime of the day” but more frequently in the afternoon and at night.
Meanwhile, the state weather bureau said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) continues to affect Mindanao.
While this will not bring widespread rainfall in the area, isolated thunderstorms can still be expected, according to Dela Cruz.
LPA near PAR boundary
Pagasa is also monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) near the boundary of the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), added Dela Cruz.
The LPA was last traced 1,270 kilometers east of Mindanao.
She said the LPA is forecast to enter PAR late Sunday or on Monday, which could bring rains over portions of Mindanao, Eastern Visayas and Southern Luzon.
“Although sa nakikita po natin na outlook ay posible po na baybayin lamang nito ang karagatan o katubigan sa silangang bahagi ng ating bansa before it eventually recurve papalayo po ng ating bansa,” Dela Cruz added.
Nevertheless, she advised the public to monitor updates from Pagasa.
