SAN ANTONIO, Zambales–A 51-year-old radio broadcaster in this province succumbed to COVID-19, people close to him confirmed on Friday, May 28.
Andres Sazon, who served in the local media industry for over two decades, died while being treated at the President Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital in Iba town.
Sazon had tested positive for COVID-19 on May 17, and had comorbidities, according to his close friend and former Zambales vice governor Ramon Lacbain II.
Lacbain said Sazon was a known public servant who was involved in various non-government organizations, such as the Zambales War Against Poverty Foundation Inc.
He was instrumental in the establishment of several community radio stations in Zambales and Olongapo City, including Subic E-Radio and Radyo Bandera FM Olongapo City, Lacbain said.
Sazon also served in the executive board of the Ramon Magsaysay Council and the council of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.
He is survived by his wife Rogielyn and their children.
