Pampanga’s capital city inoculates 1,605 elderly residents vs COVID-19

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga –– Some 1,605 elderly persons here have received full vaccination against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, the city government here disclosed Thursday, May 27.

It said 1,260 seniors got their first and second doses of vaccines May 24 during a whole day inoculation activity.

The city government said a total of 8,479 elderly have received their first dose of anti-COVID-19 vaccines.

On May 28, it expects to vaccinate 1,300 older residents.

The city government said more than 40,000 senior citizens here need to be inoculated.

It said 2,033 health workers belonging to the A1 priority groups have received their first dose, while 1,686 already got their second dose of the vaccine.

The vaccination drive here started on March 25.

The DOH has so far allotted 10,814 first dose and 5,774 second dose of Sinovac, and 9,912 first dose and 1,128-second dose of AstraZeneca for this capital city.

The City Health Office here said it “had not recorded any adverse effects or allergies from the vaccinated Fernandinos” since the first day of its vaccination drive “aside from the usual flu-like side effects such as fever, headache, and pain in the injection site that may last 2 to 3 days.”

The Jose B. Lingad Regional Memorial Hospital and two private hospitals and a medical university here – Mt. Carmel Medical Center, Green City Medical Center, and the Our Lady of Fatima University – are expected to accommodate residents for the inoculation.

The collaboration with the hospitals and the university is part of the national government’s effort to expand the inoculation of Filipinos.

In nearby Angeles City, a total of 16,439 residents belonging to the A1, A2, and A3 priority groups have been administered with their first dose of either Sinovac or AstraZeneca vaccines as of May 26.

The city government said 3,777 individuals have received the second dose of the vaccines.
