Albay village chief shot, hurt in gun attack
LEGAZPI CITY — The chairperson of a remote village of Camalig town in Albay province was wounded in a gun attack Friday morning, a police report said.
Salvador Nuarin, the village chief of Taladong, survived the attack but suffered gunshot wounds on his body, according to Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, spokesperson of the Bicol police, in a report.
The report said Nuarin was shot and wounded by armed men at his village around 7 a.m., but he managed to call the town police station for help.
Responding villagers and police rushed the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police were still investigating the motive for the attack. INQ
