3 more die of COVID-19 in Aurora province

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga –– The provincial government of Aurora recorded three new deaths related to COVID-19 early this week, bringing its total number of fatalities to 36.

In its latest bulletin, the Aurora Emergency Operations Center said an infected resident of Barangay San Luis died Wednesday, May 26, while two others succumbed to the disease Tuesday in Baler and Dinalungan towns.

Aurora is the last among the seven provinces in Central Luzon to have a COVID-19 case in 2020.

On Wednesday, the provincial government registered seven new confirmed cases and 14 recoveries.

Of its total of 905 cases, 725 have recovered from COVID-19.

The capital town of Baler has 45 active cases, followed by Maria Aurora, with 24, and Dipaculao with 22 active cases.

San Luis town has 18 active cases, Dingalan 10, Dilasag and Dinalungan towns two each, and Casiguran with only a single active case.

All tourism activities along the coastal towns are suspended, except for Dipaculao, which cater to tourists from the province. Maria Aurora and Casiguran’s resorts are open for their respective residences only.

Despite its modified general community quarantine status, the most relaxed form of community quarantine, the Aurora government continues to implement strict border control.

The province requires a valid identification card, travel order, and itinerary for authorized persons outside residence (APOR) from government agencies.

Those APORs from the private sector have to present a negative result of the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test taken in the last 72 hours.
