Cotabato town councilor infected with COVID-19

KIDAPAWAN CITY—A councilor of Matalam town in Cotabato province tested positive for SARS-CoV2, which causes COVID-19.

Councilor April Babol, a registered nurse, admitted in a social media post that she got the coronavirus and asked all those who have come in close contact with her in the last 10 days to keep in touch with local health authorities.

She is now confined in a hospital.

Babol said she only had mild symptoms, which, she added, could be attributed to her completion of two COVID-19 vaccine doses.

Babol attended the Sangguniang Bayan session on Monday and felt some COVID-19 symptoms. She submitted herself to a swab along with other town councilors.

Among them, only Babol tested positive for the virus.

“Now, I have learned my lesson and wish wholeheartedly that nobody will go through the same thing,” Babol said.

Two town mayors, Jesus Sacdalan of Alamada and Armando Quibod of Makilala, are now on the road to recovery after contracting the virus.
