Suspected criminal slain in Batangas town
LUCENA CITY –– A suspected criminal was killed in an armed encounter with police in Balayan town in Batangas province early Wednesday.
The Calabarzon police said in a spot report that policemen, armed with a search warrant, swooped down on the house of Antonio Rodriguez in Barangay 1 at 4:20 a.m.

The report said the suspect, who had a handgun, fired at the policemen, who retaliated and shot Rodriguez dead.
The police said the search warrant targeted illegal drugs and illegal firearms.
