COVID-19 death toll at PNP climbs to 64

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police logged its 64th death from COVID-19 on Monday.

Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the PNP, said the latest death was that of a 44-year-old policeman assigned in Zamboanga Sibugay.

He tested positive on May 7 and was confined on May 21 at the intensive care unit. He died on Monday from respiratory failure.

As of Tuesday, the PNP had 23,013 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 1,550 still active and 21,399 recoveries.
