LEGAZPI CITY — The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Masbate province on Tuesday condemned the brutal killing of an elementary school principal in San Jacinto town last Saturday, May 22.
Nene Merioles, Masbate Schools Division superintendent, said in a statement that they denounce the killing of James Villamor, principal of Interior Elementary School of San Jacinto. Villamor was gunned down in his house by still unidentified suspects over the weekend.
“SDO (Schools Division Office) Masbate denounces all forms of violence against our learners, teachers and other personnel as we call on the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and look forward to results that will bring the perpetrators to justice,” Merioles said.
Reports reaching Bicol police in this city said the victim was inside his house in Barangay Calipat-an with his wife Daisy and a certain Naty Macasinag when two unidentified gunmen barged in at around 10:30 p.m.
One of the gunmen fired several rounds at the victim, hitting him in various parts of his body.
The victim was taken to the Ticao District Hospital but died while being treated.
Recovered from the crime scene was a slug and two empty shells from still unknown caliber gun.
An investigation is still going on.
