5 NPA rebels slain, soldier hurt in Bohol village gunfight

TAGBILARAN CITY –– Five suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) were killed, while a soldier was wounded in a gunfight Tuesday, May 25 in Barangay Cabacnitan, Bilar town in Bohol.

1 Lt. Elma Grace Remonde, spokesperson of the Civil-Military Operation Officer of the 47th Infantry (Katapatan) Battalion, said the government troops conducted a security operation  around 5:30 a.m. in the area when they encountered at least 11 armed men

Cabacnitan, which has a population of at least 800 residents, is located at the boundary of Bilar and the neighboring town of Batuan.

The clash ended around 7:30 a.m.
