MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) announced the scheduled date for graduation and moving up rites of students in public schools in the country.
In a memorandum, Education Secretary Leonor Briones said kindergarten, Grade 6, 10, and 12 could conduct end-of-school-year (EOSY) rites on July 12 to 16, a few days after the end of the school year on July 10.
Private schools, however, may implement the schedule as reflected in their school calendars.
Briones said this year’s rites should focus on the theme “Strengthening the Quality of Education Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic.”
However, the DepEd chief stressed that “any face-to-face ceremony is not allowed” in accordance with the national government guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Instead, schools could broadcast the virtual rites through social media platforms.
“Schools may prepare a short program that will run in less than two hours to consider the internet connectivity that will be consumed,” Briones noted.
