PMMA cadet, 3 health workers among new COVID-19 cases in Zambales

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales A cadet of the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) and three health workers were the latest to get infected with COVID-19 in the province, an official said on Sunday, May 23.

According to Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, the 21-year-old PMMA cadet showed some symptoms of COVID-19 but it was not immediately known how the patient contracted the virus.

Bueno said the health workers were a 36-year-old nursing attendant, a 33-year-old nurse, and a 24-year-old radiologic technologist. They all showed symptoms of the disease.

The other new cases were two workers inside the Subic Bay Freeport and two persons who were exposed to their infected relatives.

On the same day, at least seven people were also healed from the disease, raising the total number of recoveries to 1,903.

Zambales’s COVID-19 death toll remained at 53.

To date, the province has a total of 2,133 COVID-19 cases and 171 of these were still active. INQ
