MANILA, Philippines—Malacañang respects the decision of the Pasay City Regional Trial Court to allow former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s continued stay at Veterans’ Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) where she is under hospital arrest, presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said Friday.
He said Arroyo can stay at the hospital on the condition that her doctors submit a monthly report on her health to the court.
Lawyers for the prosecution have expressed concern that Arroyo’s hospital bills might already be piling up.
But Arroyo’s lawyers had asked the court to let her stay at VMMC for her continued treatment and therapy.—Norman Bordadora
